Event Description BRAHMS - Hungarian Dance No. 5 BRAHMS - Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra BRAHMS - Symphony No. 2 James Feddeck, Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, leads the CSO in this program showcasing the music of Johannes Brahms. The concert begins with Brahms' lively Dance No. 5 from his 21-piece Hungarian Dances, a work completed in 1869. The composer's final orchestral work, Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra (also known as his Double Concerto) features the CSO's own Yuriy Bekker, concertmaster, and Norbert Lewandowksi, principal cello. Brahms' classically structured Symphony No. 2 is a brooding and melancholic, yet triumphant and spirited work composed in 1877. From the Stage – Free to all ticketholders, pre-concert talks are held from the stage from 6:30-7:00pm prior to all Masterworks Series concerts. |
