| Monday Night Concert Series |

Event Description Concert by La Belle Musique, an ensemble founded in Charleston in 2010 to showcase music of the 17th and 18th centuries, notably that of women composers, and to educate audiences on the lives and music of these women. The concert includes works by Isabella Leonarda, an Italian nun; Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, composer at the court of Louis XIV; Barbara Strozzi, a freelance composer and performer; Anna Bon of Venice; Princess Anna Amalia of Prussia, sister of Frederick the Great; and one male composer, Johann Joachim Quantz, court composer for Frederick the Great. Performing are Margaret Kelly Cook, soprano; Esther Senft, recorder and baroque violin; David Heywood, recorder and flute; Carol Beyer, cello; and Julia Harlow, harpsichord and founder of La Belle Musique. |
