Event Description At the Charleston Symphony's 2nd Masterworks Concert of the season, Morihiko Nakahara, Music Director of the South Carolina Philharmonic (Columbia, SC), returns to conduct this Masterworks concert featuring Antonin Dvořák’s masterpiece, Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” Composed by Dvořák during his visit to the U.S., the “New World” Symphony is Dvořák’s most popular and one of the most popular pieces in the orchestral repertoire. World-renowned violin virtuoso Robert McDuffie will perform the South Carolina premiere of Philip Glass’ Violin Concerto No. 2, “The American Four Seasons,” which was written specifically for McDuffie and has premiered all over the world to rave reviews. Vivaldi’s fourth movement from The Four Seasons – Winter - opens the concert. |
